🧴 Product Overview
Defswit (Deflazacort Oral Suspension 6 mg) is a prescription corticosteroid suspension designed to provide a precise, palatable liquid dosage suitable especially for children and adults who have difficulty swallowing pills.

✔️ Key Features & Benefits
Active Ingredient: Deflazacort 6 mg per 5 mL of suspension—a potent glucocorticoid prodrug.
Therapeutic Use: Primarily prescribed for managing Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) in patients aged 2 years and above; also used in treating a spectrum of inflammatory and autoimmune disorders such as asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile chronic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, sarcoidosis, and post-transplant immunosuppression.
Mechanism of Action: Works by binding to glucocorticoid receptors, reducing inflammatory responses, suppressing immune activity, and slowing the progression of muscle degeneration with potentially fewer bone-related side effects compared to similar steroids.

🧭 Dosage & Administration
Administer orally once daily, with or without food—best taken consistently at the same time each day.
Shake the bottle well before dosing. Use a calibrated measuring spoon or cup for accurate dosing. Suspension can be mixed with milk or juice (except grapefruit juice).
For pediatric patients, the dose is personalized based on body weight and clinical response, and usually maintained or tapered under medical guidance.

⚠️ Precautions & Contraindications
Requires a valid prescription and medical supervision.
Not recommended for individuals with ongoing untreated infections or those due to receive live vaccines. Use cautiously in conditions like diabetes, osteoporosis, hypertension, glaucoma, peptic ulcers, or psychiatric disorders.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding: only use if benefit outweighs risk. Monitoring is essential.

🔍 Side Effects & Monitoring
Common effects: Weight gain, increased appetite, headaches, fluid retention, mood swings, acne, excess hair growth, indigestion, and increased urination.
Long‑term risks: Bone thinning (osteoporosis), growth suppression in children, elevated blood sugar, hypertension, and delayed wound healing.
Withdrawal caution: Do not stop abruptly. Gradual tapering under physician supervision is required to prevent adrenal insufficiency.

🧊 Storage & Shelf-Life
Store in a cool, dry place below 25–30 °C, away from direct heat and light. Keep securely out of children’s reach.
Always check the bottle for a valid expiry date before use.
