Gocef 250 MG Injection contains Ceftriaxone 250 mg, a broad-spectrum third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. It is effective against infections in the brain (such as meningitis), lungs (pneumonia), ear, urinary tract, skin and soft tissues, bones and joints, blood, and heart. It may also be used to prevent infections before certain surgical procedures.

Key Features
Active Ingredient: Ceftriaxone sodium equivalent to 250 mg of ceftriaxone per vial.
Form: Sterile powder for solution, for intravenous (IV) or intramuscular (IM) injection.
Mechanism of Action: Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to the death of susceptible bacteria.

Indications:
Meningitis
Community- and hospital-acquired pneumonia
Acute otitis media
Urinary tract infections (including pyelonephritis)
Infections of bones and joints
Skin and soft tissue infections
Gonorrhea and syphilis
Bacterial endocarditis
Pre-operative prophylaxis of surgical site infections

Administration
Route: Administered by a healthcare professional as an IV infusion or IM injection.
Dosage: Determined by the treating physician based on the type and severity of infection, and patient factors such as age, weight, and kidney/liver function.

Common Side Effects
Gastrointestinal: Diarrhea, nausea
Skin: Rash, injection site reactions (pain, redness, swelling)
Laboratory: Changes in liver function tests, blood cell counts (e.g., high eosinophil count, decreased white blood cells, low platelets)
Others: Temporary redness or pain at the injection site

Precautions
Inform your doctor if you have a history of allergy to antibiotics, or kidney or liver problems.
Complete the full course of treatment, even if you feel better, to prevent recurrence or worsening of infection.
Not effective against viral infections (e.g., colds, flu).

Storage
Store as per manufacturer’s instructions, usually at controlled room temperature, and protect from light.
